Initial Parameters

Initial parameters are the parameters that exist from the start of the heading. By default the parameters are the same for the entire heading.

You can change some parameters for a heading at any position along a heading.

The initial parameters are displayed in the Initial parameters data grid. You can change the profile, density, model, collection, and user parameter values that are initially assigned to each heading in the data grid.

You can also edit the initial parameter values using the spreadsheet view, by clicking the Edit in spreadsheet view icon. Editing initial parameter values in the spreadsheet view allows you to use spreadsheet functionality to fill information into the data grid more rapidly.

Columns in the Initial Parameters Data Grid

Column Description
Heading The heading name.
Profile

The shape of the heading in cross section.

The profiles available for each heading are defined in the Profiles data grid. The profile is used in volume calculations for the heading.

Density

The default density to use for the heading.

If there is no geological model found for the heading, this density value is used to calculate mass.

Model

The geological model used to calculate volume, mass, and qualities of headings.

You can select any model that you defined in the Define Geology > Models tab.

Note: You do not have to define a model for the heading. If there is no model defined, the length, volume, and mass of the heading are still calculated and reported with the material class named UNDEFINED.

Collection

The name of the development collection to which the heading belongs.

Collections are used to define the material movement from the headings. The development collections available are those collections defined in the Development collections data grid.

Note: A heading can belong to only one collection.

User parameters

The values for the user parameters defined for the scenario.

Each parameter you defined in the User parameters data grid in the Define geology > Models tab or the User Parameters form appears as a separate column at the right of the Initial parameters data grid.

Comments Any notes you want to make about the initial parameter.
